"Chemung," was found to be derived from the Cayuga Indian term for "great horn".
The Chemung is a split finger type atlatl designed to fit comfortably in the hand. The fingerless rest is lined with leather to help hold darts securely for long periods with no discomfort to the hand. The Chemung comes in either right or left handed versions. Please specify.

The Chemung rest can be made from different wood other than the atlatl for a beautiful accent.
The spur on the Chemung is made from hardwood. It could be deer antler. Your choice.
The split-finger type atlatl
I switched from a hammer grip atlatl to a split-finger grip atlatl after injuring my wrist. At the time I was throwing darts every Tuesday with the
Tyoga Atlatl Association. I couldn't throw with the hammer grip atlatl I was using and not wanting to stop I tried a
Basketmaker atlatl I had laying around. The different style of throwing split-finger atlatls had no effect on the injury I had. My average weekly score actually increased. I've been using the Chemung ever since.
Oak, Maple, Hickory, Ash, Locust, Walnut, Osage Orange
The Chemung sells for $85.00.
